BBL Hero (BroadBand Light)

The world’s most powerful IPL device to erase sun damage, redness, and age spots for clearer, younger-looking skin.
BBL (BroadBand Light) uses high-intensity pulses of light to target and diminish brown spots (pigment) and redness (vascularity) while stimulating collagen for a smoother complexion. This is our only treatment that may not be used on all skin tones. This can be discussed during a consultation with us at Skin Talk.

What can you expect?

  • Strictly No Sun: You cannot receive BBL if you have any active tan (sun or tanning bed) or sunburn. We recommend avoiding direct sun exposure for 4 weeks before your appointment.
  • Scrub the Fake Tan: Self-tanner must be completely removed from the treatment area at least 4 weeks before your appointment.
  • Pause Actives: Stop using retinol, retinoids (Tretinoin), glycolic acid, salicylic acid, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and hydroquinone -2-4 days before treatment.
  • Numbing: We’ll apply a topical numbing cream for 30–45 minutes to ensure you are comfortable.
  • The Gel: We apply a cool ultrasound gel to the treatment area and give you protective eyewear (the light flashes are very bright!).
  • The Flash: You will feel a quick, warm “snap” sensation (often described as a rubber band snapping against the skin) as the device glides over your face.
  • Motion Technology: Unlike older IPL devices that “stamp” the skin, our BBL Heroic uses rapid-motion technology, making it faster and more comfortable.
  • The “Coffee Grounds”: Over the next few days, your brown spots will darken and look like tiny coffee grounds on the skin. This is a good sign—it means the pigment is lifting!
  • Let it Flake: These dark spots will naturally flake off within 5–7 days (face) or 10–14 days (body). Do not scrub or pick at them.
  • Cool Down: You may feel a warm, sunburn-like sensation for an hour or two post-treatment. We will give you a face mask to help with any discomfort. Swelling and redness is expected, and may last between 3-5 days.
  • Sun Protection: This is an absolute must! Start applying SPF 30+ sunscreen daily starting the day after your procedure. Your new skin is vulnerable to UV damage and we want to protect the investment you’ve made in your skin.

What do you need to know?
