Moxi

A gentle yet powerful resurfacing laser that targets hyperpigmentation, skin quality and texture.

Moxi is a non-ablative, fractionated laser that stimulates collagen and elastin production by triggering the skin’s natural repair process. This laser helps to prevent signs of premature aging, corrects sun damage, and improves overall skin texture. Moxi is safe for all skin tones and types and can be used all year round on the right candidate.

Studies show that a 1927 nanometer wavelength laser (the wavelength of our Moxi laser), reduces actinic keratosis lesions (precancerous skin lesions) at 6 months with up to 4 treatments. Studies also show that this wavelength can be used to manage melasma by improving pigmentation across various skin types.

What can you expect?

  • Minimize Sun Exposure: Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners within 2 weeks of your appointment.
  • Pause Actives: Stop using retinol, retinoids (Tretinoin), glycolic acid, salicylic acid, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and hydroquinone-2-4 days before treatment.
  • Skin Prep: Arrive the day of your procedure with no makeup, moisturizers, or sunscreen. We’ll take it from here.
  • Numbing: We’ll apply a topical numbing cream for 30–45 minutes to ensure you are comfortable.
  • The Zap: The laser feels like rapid warm snaps or prickly heat as it glides across the skin. The actual treatment time is quick—usually about 12–15 minutes.
  • Cooling Down: Your skin will feel hot (like a significant sunburn) for about 60–90 minutes after the treatment. We provide cooling comfort measures immediately after.
  • The “Mends”: Over the next 24–48 hours, tiny microscopic dark spots (called MENDs) will appear, making your skin feel like sandpaper. It can take 5-7 days for the MENDs to flake off. This is dead skin cells working their way out!
  • Keep it Clean: Avoid washing your face and applying makeup for 24 hours. We will provide you with an aftercare kit to make your recovery as simple as possible. You may return to your normal skincare routine once fully healed.
  • Stay Cool: To prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, avoid activities that generate heat for at least 1 week while your skin recovers. This includes vigorous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, or being outside for a prolonged period of time on a hot day even if you’re in the shade.
  • Sun Protection: This is an absolute must! Start applying SPF 30+ sunscreen daily starting the day after your procedure. Your new skin is vulnerable to UV damage and we want to protect the investment you’ve made in your skin.

What do you need to know?

Frequency

Corrective Series: For pigmentation or melasma, we typically recommend a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.

Maintenance: Studies show sustained collagen elevation for at least 6 months post-treatment. To maintain healthy skin, we recommend our patients to come in at least twice a year for their Moxi treatments.
