Chemical Peel (VI Peel)

Shed the past and reveal brighter, clearer skin in just seven days.
We primarily use the VI Peel, a medium-depth medical-grade chemical peel that lifts pigment, smooths texture, and clears acne by exfoliating the outer layers of the skin to reveal the fresh, healthy skin underneath.

What can you expect?

  • Pause Actives: Stop using retinol, retinoids (Tretinoin), glycolic acid, salicylic acid, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and hydroquinone -2-4 days before treatment.
  • No Waxing: Avoid waxing or dermaplaning the area for 1 week prior to prevent irritation.
  • Skip the Shave: Do not shave the day of the peel (shave the day before) to avoid irritation.
  • The Application: The peel is applied in layers. The appointment is quick (about 15–20 minutes).
  • The Sensation: You may feel a “spicy” tingling sensation during the first pass, but the VI Peel contains a numbing agent, so it becomes comfortable very quickly.
  • Follow Instructions: You will leave the clinic with the peel still on. Leave the peel solution on for 4 hours. Then, you will follow the instructions in your after-care kit. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure the instructions are clear before you leave the clinic.
  • The Waiting Game: You likely won’t see much happening on Day 1 or 2. By Day 3, peeling typically begins around the mouth and nose. The level of peeling may vary from flaking to heavy peeling.
  • No Sweating: You must avoid heavy exercise and sweating for 3-5 days after the peel. This also includes saunas, hot tubs, and steam rooms.. Sweat can irritate the skin and introduce bacteria. If you are prone to hyperpigmentation, we recommend refraining from working out for the entire 7 day healing process.
  • Don’t Pick! (Golden Rule): This is the golden rule. Pulling at the skin before it’s ready to shed can cause scarring or hyperpigmentation. Let it fall off naturally. Alternatively, you can use a clean, small cuticle scissor to trim the exfoliating skin.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink lots of water and use a moisturizer that works best for your skin. Don’t worry – we will recommend skin care products personalized just for you to keep your skin healthy after your procedure.

What do you need to know?

Frequency

  • Corrective: For acne, melasma, or sun damage, we recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.
  • Maintenance: A seasonal peel (2–4 times a year) is excellent for maintaining a glow and keeping acne at bay.
